UN AUTRE MAD MAX 2... ANOTHER MAD MAX 2

Il y a quelques mois, j'ai interviewé Paul Johnstone qui joue le rôle de Cundalini dans Mad Max 1, celui qui se fait arracher la main. Je lui demandais s'il savait ce qu'était devenu son personnage, étant donné que dans le film c'était le seul "méchant" qui survivait. Ce à quoi il me répondait que si je lui disais ça c'est que j'estimais que Johnny the Boy n'avait pas eu le temps de se trancher la cheville avant l'explosion, à la fin du film. Lui était persuadé que Johnny avait pu survivre. Il écrivit un traitement rapide pour un hypothétique Mad Max 2 dans lequel Johnny, avec un seul pied, et Condolini, avec une seule main, conduisait une moto à trois roues. Condolini utilisant les pédales pendant que Johnny tenait le guidon. Le film serait l'histoire de leur vengeance... Bien sûr rien n'est jamais allé au delà de ce pitch saugrenu. D'où l'idée de faire ce petit fan art en forme d'affiche...

You are assuming that Johnny The Boy dies in the car explosion after Max sets the fuse to the petrol. I certainly don't. After seeing what remained of the Nightrider I consider it not only possible that Johnny hacked off his foot to get away, but very very probable. Yes - I certainly thought about what became of Cundilini, just as I thought about what happened to Johnny. In fact, after I heard that there was to be a sequel I bumped into George Miller one day in a café called the Tropicana near Kings Cross and I proposed a scenario in the film - things are happening to Max that cannot be clearly understood and it turns out that these events are caused not by the clear 'villain' but by his old nemeses Johnny The Boy and Cundilini, who have tracked Max down and are hell-bent on revenge. Cunders has only one hand, Johnny has only one foot - so they're riding some kind of three-wheeled machine whereby Johnny operates the handlebars while Cunders operates the foot pedals and weaponry. Needless to say, George didn't run with this idea...
